Dear Reader, Is every consideration of beauty, in recognising it or cultivating it, an act of defiance against the idea of insignificance? If we say we do not need beauty, are we actually saying that we have no need of significance? Significance, purpose or meaning. If every thing is without purpose, it's a tricky way to live, but many have attempted to and have been able to experience varying degrees of happiness (I'm not sure that happiness is or is not a good marker of wellness). How do you actually know that one experience interacts with another, propelling it forward in a way which is unexpected and unpredictable? I don't think that every beauty I witness and acknowledge or every beauty I create has a quantifiable impact. Perhaps it is more like water on rock. One wave has no significance to a rocks structure, but over a season or two, the waves shapes the rock.
Maybe the joke is on me, and beauty doesn't even need to be significant. Maybe having no significance contributes to the beauty of beauty. Do you think beauty has significance?
More questions on beauty to follow.
Happy Friday rambles!
With hope,
Nicole
