Nicole Steenhof is an oil painter, focusing on life scenes around and of the ocean. Her paintings are a contemplation on how our humanity impacts the way we engage with nature. How do our social structures obscure our access to the landscape? How do our experiences and understandings shape the way we observe or consume nature?

 

The minimalist scenes are painted with a generous sense of space and light. She is a Western Australian artist, currently living in Shoalwater with her husband and four young children. She is currently enrolled at Curtin University to commence post-graduate studies in Fine Arts in 2023.
